The status of the Whitelaw Brae Wind farm Project.
Here is a brief outline of the position of the Whitelaw Brae wind farm as seen from the perspective of the directors of Ripple Coop 4 Limited (the coop). This is sent for information only and does not constitute any kind of representation on which you or chargeback claims handlers or their customers can place reliance.
Ripple Energy Limited advertised the Whitelaw Brae wind farm project as an opportunity to purchase electrical generation capacity. Ripple Energy managed raising funds for the project, selling wattage fees and collected somewhere in the range of £10,000,000 from individual consumers in return for electrical generation capacity. The goal was in the region of £60m.
- Once fundraising was completed, Ripple Energy Limited was expected to transfer the funds raised to the coop and to assist the coop in the acquisition of all or part of the wind farm via a holding company in a similar manner to the three previous projects. Ripple Coop 4 Limited, of which your customer is a member would then indirectly own part or all of the wind farm.
- Ripple Energy would then manage the construction and commissioning of the windfarm for the holding company and indirectly, the coop.
- Insufficient funds were raised by Ripple Energy Limited for Ripple Coop 4 to purchase the entire Whitelaw Brae wind farm project from developers BayWa r.e. Instead, it was acquired by Thrive Renewables. Ripple Coop 4 Limited and its members have no connection to Thrive Renewables whatsoever. There is no monetary connection between them and us.
- Ripple Energy Limited entered administration whilst holding Coop 4’s member funds. Ripple Energy Limited nor their appointed administrators, Begbies Traynor, have refunded members at this time.
- After Ripple Energy entered administration, Ripple’s intellectual property, technology assets and customer data was sold to 1st Energy Technologies, a subsidiary of a company called 1st Energy. 1st Energy does not have any connection to the Whitelaw Brae project, Ripple Coop 4 Limited or its members whatsoever.
- Ripple Coop 4 Limited has not received any funds from the fundraising from Ripple Energy. It has not received any funds or any value from any part of an operational wind farm or other renewable asset at any time from Ripple Energy Limited.
- Ripple Coop 4 Limited is not in administration or insolvent, and acts as a cooperative society to advance the interests of its members.
We would ask that for the future, you please do not direct enquiries from chargeback handlers or their customers to Ripple Coop 4 Limited regarding Ripple Energy Limited or the future of the Whitelaw Brae wind farm project.
Yours sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Ripple Coop 4 Limited
